7DOF nonlinear vehicle model with Pacejka tyre model, virtual driver, two high-level controllers (PI and LQR), two low-level torque distribution methods, validated across skidpad and transient scenarios.
TVC increased lateral acceleration capability to 1.6g. Both PI and LQR controllers showed dramatic performance and stability gains. PI controller recommended for initial implementation based on superior stability-to-complexity ratio.

Cooper Figliomeni — a Mechatronics Engineer with experience in cutting-edge autonomous systems, structural design, dynamic modelling and technical analysis — brings these capabilities to clients across the construction, robotics, manufacturing and resources industries. Cooper's research project produced a complete seven degree-of-freedom vehicle simulation environment in MATLAB and Simulink, featuring nonlinear tyre dynamics, multiple control architectures, and a framework designed for real-time deployment. The project was conducted for the Curtin Motorsport Team, directly informing the team's transition to an all-wheel-drive hub motor electric vehicle with torque vectoring capability.
Cooper currently works as a Mechatronics Engineer in the defense industry, working with Hardware In the Loop (HIL) simulators and electronic systems to shape the future of autonomous UAVs.
